英文スクリプト
　In the previous installment, I used the word 'consist' when I said a regular year consisted of 365 days. Let's learn the word today 'to consist' or rather 'to consist of something'.

　To consist of*1 means to be made up of. I'll give you some examples.

　When you combine hydrogen and oxygen, you get water. In other words, water consists of hydrogen*2 and oxygen*3.

　There are 47 different prefectures in Japan. Therefore, you can say, Japan consists of 47 prefectures.

　Let's say there are 5 men and 5 women on the committee*4. In other words, the committee consists of 10 people.

スクリプト訳文
　前回のレッスンで consist という単語を使いました。「通常、1年は365日から成る」と言ったときです。今日はこの単語 consist、というより consist of という表現を学びましょう

　consist of something は「〜で作られている」という意味です いくつか例文を挙げましょう

　水素と酸素を混ぜると水ができます。これを consist of を用いて言い換えると、water consists of hydrogen and oxygen、「水は水素と酸素から成る」となります

　日本には47の都道府県があります。consist of を使うなら、Japan consists of 47 prefectures、「日本は47の都道府県から成る」と言います

　例えば、ある委員会があって、男性の委員が5人、女性の委員が5人いるとします。これは the committee consists of 10 people、「委員会は10人の委員で構成されている」と言い換えることができます

「委員会は10人(の委員)で構成されている。(その委員会は10人から成る)。」
