今日は、ちょっと簡単だけど、とーっても使い勝手のよいフレーズを紹介します 機内食のサービス時にCAがよく使う定番フレーズです。相手のリクエストを聞きたいとき、ぜひ使ってみてくださいね

　Time flies. It’s already June. And it’s my birth month. In other words, I was born in June and named Junko. I know it’s very straightforward¹. My birth stone is Pearl, birth flower is Rose. Zodiac sign²? Gemini³. According to my research, my birth stone, pearl, represents⁴ good health, innocence, long life and wealth. Let’s see…. Good health: I’m in good health⁵, generally. Innocence: I don’t know what to say. Long life: I have no idea. Wealth: For me, wealth means wishful thinking⁶.

　Anyhow, if you ask me what I would want for my birthday, I can tell you what. Right now, I want a moulin⁷. If you cook, you know what a moulin is. A moulin is a kitchen utensil⁸, a vegetable mill. You would use it for making vegetable sauces and soups or mashed potato. I want it specifically for pureed tomato.

　Now, when you want to find out what gift your friend or mother or sister would want for her birthday, how would you ask? In English, I mean. I’ll give you the easiest phrase. You can say, “what would you like for your birthday?“

　In fact, this is a kind of phrase I would recommend to remember. It’s simple and easy. There’s nothing witty⁹ about it. But you can use it in daily life. Instead of birthday, you can say “what would you like for Christmas?” for example. Or, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or Valentine’s Day. And it’s not limited to¹⁰ these special occasions. You can say, “what would you like for breakfast?” “What would you like for dinner?” “What would like for desert?”

　まあそれはそれ。誕生日に何が欲しいと訊かれれば、あるんですよ、欲しいものが 今欲しいのはムーランです。料理をする人なら、このムーランなるものご存知かと思います。ムーランは調理器具で、野菜を潰したり漉したりするフードミルです。野菜ソースやスープ、マッシュポテトなどを作るときに使います。私が特に潰したいのはトマトです

　ところで、お友だちでもお母さんでも妹でもいいんですが、誕生日のプレゼントに何が欲しいか訊ねるとき、何て訊けばいいのでしょう もちろん、英語で、ということですよ 一番簡単なフレーズをご紹介しましょう。それがこれ。”What would you like for your birthday?“

　実を言うと、この種のフレーズこそ、是非とも覚えて欲しいんですね シンプルで簡単です。特に気の利いた言い回しではありませんが、日常生活で使えます 誕生日の代わりに、「クリスマスに何が欲しい?」というときにも使える。母の日でも父の日でもバレンタインの日でもかまいません。もちろん、特別なイベントじゃなくたっていい。例えば、「朝ご飯は何がいい?」とか「ディナーは何が食べたい?」とか「デザートは何にする?」とか
