In the movie “Eat Pray Love”, Liz Gilbert takes off on a year-long journey around the globe. How lucky! But you can’t be always lucky while on the road1. Her first stop is Rome where she rents an apartment that doesn’t have hot running water. The owner tells her to boil the water in the kitchen and fill the bathtub.
As you can see, when you travel, you can’t be completely free of troubles. Despite the hospitality slogan, hotels are not your home away from home.
When you have a problem in a hotel, the first thing you would do is to go to the front desk and say clearly that you have a problem and need help. For example, “I have a problem with the shower” or “I have a problem with my room key”. Then describe exactly what the problem is. The shower problem could be a drain2 problem or water temperature3 or water pressure4. This could be challenging5 if you don’t speak English well. But I believe you can manage to do it because you have to.

ホテルで困ったことがあったら、まずはフロントデスクに行って、「困っているから助けてくれ」と申告することが肝心 例えば、「シャワーが壊れている 」とか「部屋の鍵の調子が悪い」とか。で、問題の内容について詳しく説明する。シャワーの問題と言っても、排水とか水温とか水圧とかいろいろあります。英語が不得手な人にとっては困難なシチュエーションですが、必ずなんとかなるはずです。なにしろ何とかしないといけませんから
