Hi everyone! Thanks for tuning in to Time for English. And now as the year 2011 draws to a close, Kaori and I also want to thank you for staying with us all through the year. Without your loyalty and support, we wouldn’t be here.

The past nine months since the March 11 disaster have truly been a trying time for the entire nation. Especially in the directly affected areas, so many people are still displaced from homes and disconnected from family members and friends. Their suffering is far from over.

But let us remember the word we’ve chosen as the word of the year for 2011, which is ‘kizuna’. I don’t have to tell you what it means, it means bonds or ties that connect people together. Relationship, friendship, unity. I want to see it as a sign that we are not in total despair; we still have faith in ourselves.

Well, Kaori and I are going to take a short new year break and come back on the ninth of January. In the meantime, please be well and make sure you’ll come back to us. See you next year.
