今日は、「～しないようにね」と相手にちょっと注意を促したいときに使えるフレーズを紹介します

　A few weeks ago, when I discussed the difference between joking and lying, I used the expression ‘to be careful not to do something‘. Let’s learn this phrase today.

　When you’re careful not to do something, you’re taking care or paying attention¹ so that you can avoid² problems or difficulties. For example, when you have a glass of water filled to the brim³, you’ll be careful not to spill it. When you go out, you must be careful not to leave the house unlocked. When I’m on vacation, I try to be careful not to eat or drink too much.

　注意 をし、あるいは気を配り、問題とか困難 を回避しようとするとき、be careful not to do something という表現を使うことができます 例えば、グラスになみなみと注がれた水を運ぶとき、あなたは be careful not to spill it、つまり「水をこぼさないように注意します」ね。あるいは外出するときは、must be careful not to leave the house unlocked、つまり「鍵 をかけ忘れないように注意します」。私事ですが、休暇中は try to be careful not to eat or drink too much、「食べ過ぎたり 飲み過ぎたり しないように注意するようにしています 」。
