Kill two birds with one stone — 一石二鳥

一石二鳥。ご存じのとおり「一つのことをして、二つの利益を得る」という意味の四字熟語です もともとは、英語のことわざ “kill two birds with one stone” を四字熟語の形に訳したものだそうです。

　Recently I was in a meeting where a technology vendor from the US tried to sell their new products to a Japanese client. And a gentleman in the US team used an interesting expression in his sales pitch: killing two birds with one stone.

　Two birds and one stone. Ring any bells? Well, I’m sure I don’t need to explain what it means, but just to be sure, it means to solve two problems at one time with a single action.

　I’ll give you an example. Let’s say you’ve decided to cycle to work instead of driving. This kills two birds with one stone. You save money and lose weight at the same time.
