Hi everyone! Thank you for tuning in to Time for English.

Paris is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. Paris alone has over 30 million visitors every year and over 80 million across France. According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, we had some 13 million visitors in 2014 across Japan.

It’s simply impossible to see everything that Paris has to offer, although we did visit some of those tourist attractions and landmarks often mentioned in a travel guide, such as Palais Garnier, L’Arc de Triomphe, La Tour Eiffel and Montmartre. We made it to Mont Saint-Michel, too.

There was a big disappointment, too, though. One day, we took an early morning train to Chateaux de Versailles only to find it’s on strike. Can you imagine, a castle on strike?

Aside from that, Mother and I had fabulous ten days in France. We didn’t want to leave, but as is often said, all good things must come to an end.

こんにちは。毎度エイゴの時間をご愛顧いただきありがとうございます。

パリは世界有数の観光地です。パリだけで、年間の観光客数は3000万人を超えます(・o・) フランス全土では8000万人以上です。ちなみに、日本政府観光局によると、昨年の訪日観光客は約1300万人でした。

パリのすべてを見ることはできませんが、旅行ガイドに出てくるような有名な観光スポットにもいくつか行きました。オペラ座とか凱旋門とかエッフェル塔とかモンマルトルとか。モンサンミッシェルにも行きました。

どーんと肩を落とす出来事もありました(T_T) 早朝の電車に飛び乗ってヴェルサイユ宮殿まで足を運んだのですが、なんと、ストライキ中だったのです。お城がストライキだなんて、想像を絶します。

ヴェルサイユのストライキはさておき、私たちはとてもすてきな10日間を過ごしました。後ろ髪を引かれる思いではありましたが、何事にも終わりはきます。それがどんなに楽しいことでもね。
