「ロシアの狙いが米国内に不和と分断と混乱を引き起こすことなら、委員会の喚問やら捜査やら党派対立やらを見れば、信じられないほどの大成功だ。モスクワでは笑いが止まらないだろう。しっかりしてくれアメリカよ。」
ホテルやレストランの「予約」には、reservation のほかに booking を使うこともあります。overbooking は定員以上の予約を受け付けることですが、日本語でもそのままオーバーブッキングと言います。reservation と booking は相互に置き換えることができます。特に使い分ける必要はありません。

月曜日のレッスンでbelieve inには二つの意味があると述べましたが、実はもう一つ、大事な意味がありました。「人の能力や手腕を信じる」と言いたいときにもbelieve inを使います。
ここ最近、某CMでbelieveという単語をよく耳にします。実はこのbelieve、意外と間違って使われがちなんです。皆さんも間違った使い方、していませんか？
